Coarse Search
The coarse search begins when your transceiver picks up a signal. A number will appear on the screen; this is the distance to the buried transceiver. You will also see a direction indicator.
Move quickly in the direction indicated. If the number decreases, you are getting closer. If the number increases, turn around 180° and move until you see the numbers decreasing.
Slow down when you get about 10 metres away. At three metres, you are ready to start your fine search.

Once you have a signal, move quickly and follow the direction indicator. If the numbers increase, turn around and move in the opposite direction. Your transceiver will guide you towards the victim in a curved path, as it follows the electromagnetic waves emitted by the buried transceiver.
